What is FTID Fraud? (Fake Tracking ID)

The dark art of manipulating carrier tracking data to trick systems into thinking a return was delivered when it wasn't.

What is FTID Fraud? (Fake Tracking ID)

The Attack

FTID exploits carrier barcode systems to fake delivery confirmations without actual returns.

Common Methods

FTID v1 (RTS): Modified address triggers "Return to Sender" while tracking shows "Delivered" to wrong location.

FTID v3 (Address Spoofing):

  • Legitimate barcode (links to merchant warehouse)
  • Fake physical address (random location)
  • Driver scans at wrong location
  • System registers delivery to merchant
  • No package at warehouse

AI Enhancement

Scammers use AI to generate modified labels that pass carrier clerk inspection while containing fraudulent routing data.

Detection Vectors

  1. Address validation: Label text vs. barcode data mismatch
  2. GPS verification: Carrier API geocoordinates vs. warehouse location
  3. Visual analysis: Veto detects digitally altered label elements

Stop logistics fraud at the label level.
